BUILDING HOPE, CHANGING LIVES ACROSS COASTAL AND URBAN COMMUNITIES
Close to 18 million elderly in India are homeless. Senior citizens living in poverty face abandonment by their own families as they cannot earn an income. They end up living alone and starving as they cannot afford even two meals a day. They suffer from age-related illnesses which makes it hard for them to work and without work they can't afford their necessities. Sri Varalakshmi Charitable Trust has identified the destitute elderlypersons, senior citizens in & around Byndoor and Bangalore of Karnataka and are providing monthly groceries consisting of sona masoori rice, tur dal, coconut, cooking oil, soaps, hair oil, biscuits and other items like bedsheets and clothes to selected old age home. The poor elderly people are very happy & they are able to eat food timely and hence health of these elderly has improved.
