BUILDING HOPE, CHANGING LIVES ACROSS COASTAL AND URBAN COMMUNITIES
The need for dialysis centers in rural India is critical due to various challenges faced by residents in accessing healthcare. Geographical obstacles, including remote locations and limited transportation options, make it hard for rural patients to reach hospitals for essential treatments like dialysis. Financial constraints further burden low-income families, as they struggle to afford transportation costs to distant healthcare facilities. Additionally, health disparities in rural areas, stemming from limited preventive care and poor dietary habits, contribute to a higher prevalence of chronic conditions like renal failure. Establishing dedicated dialysis centers in rural communities is essential for several reasons. Firstly, it ensures timely access to treatment, reducing the risk of complications and improving health outcomes. Regular dialysis can significantly enhance patients' quality of life, enabling them to lead more active and fulfilling lives. Moreover, having local dialysis centers saves on transportation expenses, making treatment more affordable and accessible to rural residents. Lastly, these centers empower communities by providing critical healthcare services locally, fostering a sense of ownership and self-reliance among residents.
The Sri Varalakshmi Charitable Trust Uppunda is dedicated to improving healthcare accessibility in rural areas, particularly in Byndoor Assembly Constituency. With a population spread across 65 villages, residents of this constituency face significant challenges in accessing essential medical services. One such critical need is the lack of dialysis centers, forcing patients to endure long and arduous journeys of 70 to 80 kilometers to Udupi or Manipal hospitals for dialysis treatment. To address this pressing issue and alleviate the suffering of patients, the Trust proposes the construction of a dialysis center in Byndoor Assembly Constituency. This Project involves on Construction of Dialysis Center at Golihole a rural and village in Byndoor Taluk, Udupi district, to provide standardized, specialized and synchronized and treatment facilities under one roof. The center is aimed at serving the need of the community and will be run on a nonprofit basis.
